seatbelt reminder beep and warning light

Postby pw981 » Sat Dec 29, 2007 6:25 pm

2004 1.9dCi Dynamique 73,000miles

I've just noticed that my seat belt warning light and beeping sound don't work anymore? I have no idea how long this hasn't been working for, I only discovered it because my brother drove my car the other day, me being a passenger.. and he usually starts driving, then puts on his seatbelt!

I've had this problem before, and it was rectified under warranty, but I don't know what they did? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before?

Thanks

Phil

The micro switch for the seatbelt warning light is located inside the drivers seat belt clip holster..
If you look at the holster you will see a wire coming out of it.. There is a a small slot directly beside it that if you stick a small flat instrument up the slot the cable/connector will pull out..

Sometimes the cable/connector falls out or the micro switch will be faulty..

I wear my seatbelt all the time on the roads. I have to take off my seatbelt to activate the barrier to get into the work carpark where there is a 15mph speed limit and I don't want to put my belt back on for this. Does anyone know if there any way of turning off the annoying beep while I park the car? Can I just put out the wire from the buckle?

I think so, yes.....some of the guys in the german meganeboard did it, I also would like to but I am a coward ;-)

but normally if you remove that cable running into the holster it should be quiet....
