Last saturday had to call AA out as I couldn't start the car. Put the card in the slot and everything worked except it wouldn't fire. AA man came disconected something in the engine (plug lead possibly) put a tester on it, got no current and said it was an immobiliser problem.Rubbed my key card on his trousers and the thing fired first time!! He suggested I might want to keep my spare key on me in case it happened again. All Ok during the week. Same problem yesterday. BUT, I took his advice and used my spare key - nothing happened. Tried rubbing it on my trousers - nothing. Tried it a few more times and it started. Was OK until last night. Same problem would not fire for a few minutes.
Assuming both keys can't be faulty is it the reader at fault. Had a similar problem with my daughters Saxo and replaced the transponder aerial and all was OK. Do the Megs have a similar transponder aerial? Could this be the problem? Is it easily (and cheaply) replaced?

Immobiliser problem
Re my post yesterday. Decided I couldn't risk the car not starting so popped it into local dealer. The computer said the flywheel sensor was faulty. Got it changed for £95.
