Broken wing mirror

Postby J6AYY » Sat Nov 17, 2007 5:34 pm

Ok, so i loaned my baby out to my sister yesterday, some tosspot in an Audi was undertaking and took the passenger wingmirror off!

Still hanging on by wires so motors etc are fine, just the mirror and housing and plastic triangle surround on the door is broke.

Any ideas how much this is going to set (MY SISTER ) back, gonna go to local renault dealer seems im not footing the bill.

Also the motor to fold the mirror in seems to be constantly on and wont stop, how can i stop this? tried looking in fuse box in glovy but nothing to do with mirrors here but the heated mirror fuse.

Mirrors are expensive to replace.

I would estimate £150 - £200 plus paint + VAT :-(

I take it the Audi driver did not stop and your sister did not get the reg plate?

Replaced my mirror glass a couple of months ago after some goon smacked my mirror, the glass cost me £25

Don't know how much the other parts would cost, but I would say around the £150 marker :(

The glass literally fell out of one of my heated mirrors.

I got the replacement from a Ford affiliated garage for £10. They wanted £20 to fit it, but it just presses into position so I did it myself.

12 months on and no problems. Not sure about the other parts..

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
