Renault trying to fleece me....advice

Postby andrew_s46 » Wed Nov 07, 2007 3:09 pm

Hi,

I took my car into renault in order to diagnose a fault in which the heater fan was causing a ticking nosie whilst in operation.

It has turned out that debris has entered the pipes causing the clicking as the fan hits it???
They are wanting to chrage me a diagnostic charge. Surely this would be covered under warranty as debris should not enter the system in the first place?
or am i going to have th cough up?

anybody give me some advice?

Thanks,
Andrew

I would have thought that this would have been covered by the warranty. The pollen filter should stop anything from getting to the fan.

Stand your ground.

Worth trying putting the fan on full boost and then open and close the vents in rapid succesion to try and shift the debris out of the way, but depends on the size of the debris.

I had lived with the problem for three weeks before i booked it in, I then collected the car and it was still the same, got it booked in two weeks later and they diagnosed it - one very tough leaf!

Anyway, as it turned out i had to pay the money as they would not give me my car back. I was then told to contact Renault customer relations to discuss it with them.

To add an interesting twist the technician took me out to my car to explain how it happened. He finished off our conversation by saying that it was a design fault which they have had massive problems with on the scenic, but not some much on the megane.

Upon contacting customer relations they said they have never heard of the problem but will investigate it. I am waiting on their response.

On the positive side im doing wonders where i live driving around in my oversized leaf blower. I hate leaves.
