Newby (Noise Problem) just bought Megane

Postby Comet30 » Thu Oct 25, 2007 7:55 am

Hi there, I picked up my new Megane on Saturday, 04 reg 2.0 Dynamique. Already noticing a few niggles: -

1. Brakes make a squealing noise between 30 - 60 miles per hour when travelling in a straight line, rectified by either slowing down or turning a corner either left or right.

2. When reversing, car seems to need a lot of rev even with the biting point in position.

Has anyone else had these problems? Will they just go away? Any idea on what the problem is? I have been wise in making the main dealer give me a one year Warranty thankfully!

Many thanks for any help!

Welcome to the club

Squealing brakes on Meganes are quite common, take it back to them and get them apply the "Renault fix"

As for needing a lot of rev's when reversing not sure on that one? What's it like when setting off in 1st?

Which dealer in Suffolk did you buy it from?

Hi,

Many thanks, what is the "Renault Fix"?

1st Gear is fine, seem to get a lot of torque immediately but reverse is strange.

Another little problem, when driving I hear very quiet beeps that seem to be coming from the engine. Not too much of a problem but slightly annoying.

I bought it from Bristos in Ipswich.

Ususally cleaning the pads and calipers and applying copper grease to the pads. Replacement of the calipers and pads is another solution that is often used.

Beeps from the engine Hhmmm. :hmm
Any particular speed, conditions etc..

If you've only just bought it take it back and get them to look at it, particularly if you got a warranty with it?
Do Bristos have a good reputation?
