Postby speedy_glz » Tue Oct 16, 2007 4:43 pm

Hi,
well I see all you guys are from UK or Europe, Im from Mexico
I own a 2005 Megane with 2.0 lts engine, made in France but for the mexican and american market (except US cause Renault does not sell cars there).
I have aproblem with a fog light, it broke and has water inside, I went to the dealer in my city, and told me that I coul fix it (if I wanted to save a lot of money cause the replace its really expensive) by sealing it and replacing the light bulb, but my problem is that I dont know, well, I cant find a way to reach the fog light because the cover that its under the car.

Does any one here knows how to reach the fog lights??? :(

Just by taking one of the front wheels off & reaching under,, or put it on ramps & crawl under the front.

The Haynes manual says just reach up behind the bumper and remove fog light wiring & bulb

Haynes manuals are very popular in the UK for the home mechanic - theres a manual for every car make / model.
here's a link to ebay for the megane one.

Not sure where you'd get one from a shop in mexico.
"reach up" is from underneath the front of the car at the back of the bumper there should be a way to change the bulb.

I will look at e-bay!

I tried to reach the fog light the way u say, but there is a plastic cover (under the bumper) that I dont know exactly how to take it out.

I guess the only way is to take out the bumper just as cactusbob said, but before I do that, I will consult that with someone who fix and paint crashed cars

Im starting to get mad cause its a simple operation to change a bulb, but with all that proteccion for the engine under the car, damn!!

Well just to tel u that I finally change and fixed the fog light without taking of the bumper

It was easy, just lifted my car, take out the screws that keeps the plastic carter (the one attached to the bumper) and with a hand drill I took out the rivets that joins the plastic carter with the bumper..... and PRESTO!! :D

Take out the fog light, seal the small brakes it had with silicone, put a new bulb, and put back the plastic carter (screws + rivets) replacing the metal rivets with plastic rivets. 8)

Now I had to figure out how to drain the radiator to change the coolant
