sticking accelerator pedal! (edit: Now with some photos!)

hi,

well, 4 days in and my megane is already giving me trouble

A couple of times now my accelerator pedal has stuck on - almost flat to the floor - causing the engine to rev its nuts off, the first time this rectified itself but this morning I had to stop the car by braking against it and pull the pedal back up by hand!!!

When I had a good look at the pedals in the car I noticed that a lot of the 'gubbins' (technical phrase) attached to the pedals is all exposed - which I found strange as in my old car this stuff was all sealed off - is this normal?

Obviously this is really dangerous and I will be getting it to a dealer ASAP but does anybody know why this should be happening or if it is a known problem?

My clutch pedal used to do that, then I found out that it was getting stuck on the floor mats.

i did wonder about if it was sticking to the mats but I dont not think it was - is there any way that the pedal could stick to the carpet?

I will try and get a photo of the pedal area later on and post it up to see if it looks in any way "odd" - I do find it strange that some of the linkages and cables seem to be exposed, I am not sure if something is missing and my feet might simply be catching on stuff they should not be!

Right, just popped out and got some (fairly crap) photos of the area using my mobile - basically all the linkage and wiring stuff seems to all be exposed above the pedals - is this the same on everyone elses Megane?!

Mine got recalled with something to do with the pedals, think they had to check that they werent to close together, didnt get the letter thru till 6month after i bought the car and apparently the letter had been sent to the guy that owned it before me to.
