Engine mount Megane II 1.5 dci

Postby pajopy » Fri Aug 24, 2007 10:13 am

Hi all

Does anybody know difference between engine mounts (upper right) on Megane II 1,5 dci?
I had problems with this, but finally (after 6 months) problem solved after escalation to Renault Croatia. :-)

When I was in workshop I spoke with a mechanic and he gave me a hint regarding a stripe on rubber part of engine mount. Now my is green. Of course after this I am very curious about colors on engine mount.
Here it is:
8200 592 642 Blue
8200 549 046 Green
8200 438 263 Orange
8200 674 936 White
8200 690 091 Pink

tnx

Firstly welcome to the club :wave

I take it from your post that the top engine mounting had failed on your car?
Same thing happened to me last year, lot's of vibrations and knocking noises :(
Top mount was replaced, this now has a blue stripe on it, I don't recall the colour of the stripe on the old one, or if it even had one?

Webcode or XR25 might be able to shed some light on this as they are both Renault Technicians (Webcode now ex Renault technician)

I would be interested to find out as well because I still have some engine vibration at idle and quite a bit of engine resonance when accelerating. In fact the car is back at the dealers having this and a few other little problems looked at today.

Hi

tnx for warm welcome :)

well, regarding engine mount. As you said, there was a lot of vibrations and knocking noise, especially when changing gears, waiting on traffic lights, pushing and releasing throttle pedal between 2200-3000 rpm, etc.
Situation is now completely different and I still afraid to say, solved. They have changed upper mount and lower mount. Also guy in workshop told me that this ones with green stripe "never" cause a problem, instead of blue stripe which, as I have told, has usually used for first installation in factory and sometimes latter in workshop.
This story took more than a year of my nerves, patience and of course, time. Finally, few months ago I made escalation to Renault Croatia and 2 months after escalation problem has solved. But in other workshop ...
That's why I want to hear a second opinion regarding difference between engine mounts ... :)

The differnce between the engine mounts could be version or country specific; the colours might indicate that, or they could simply identify newer revisions of the part or manufaturing period when they were made?
As the mounts are hydraulic, the colours could also indicate the level of "elasticity" for the mount.
Mind you I'm probably talking complete rubbish here
I will ask my dealer tonight when I pick the car up.

It's about time Renault got to the bottom of these engine mount problems
Unfortunately Renault's have been prone to engine mount problems for years.

My dads Renault 19td (1994) top mount used to knock and bang terribly, and his 2001 Megane 1.9dCi had 3 new engine mountings on it.
My 1993 Clio 1.9D and 1996 Laguna 2.2D also had problems with the mounts and so has my current Megane.

Come on Renault Sort it out

Spoke to the dealer armed with the above info. Apparently Renault use the colour coding system on a number of things.
e.g. coil springs, the different colours indicate how soft or firm the spring is.
The workshop manger said he was unsure what the exact difference was between the mountings but would investigate for me. He postulated that as the mounts are fluid filled, the colour coding could indicate the rigidity of the mount, but also said that they might be country specific, so here in the UK we might not be able to obtain the various part numbers listed.

I'll let you know more when I find out anything.
