Is it possible just to replace the motor on the window mechanism or do I have to buy a complete unit?. Car is 2004 cabrio. Thanks Roberkat.

Its a common fault but it might be the regulator or module thats wet.

Remove it

Get a hair drier, zap it then lightly apply a water proof membrane like WD40 and then put back.

It worked for me.

Renault don't sell rear window motors for the cc it comes with a regulator also been told although they look the same the front and rear motors are not interchangeable. Beware the small boxes they sell on ebay that replace the comfort modual ontop of the motor 99% don't work on the cc.
Rear regulators seem to be a real weak link with these cars check ur cables inside the rear panel been told by renault tec they wires can frey and earth on the body where they pass through into rear panel.
