Radio will not turn on or OFF!

Postby funkyunderpants » Mon Nov 23, 2015 5:48 pm

So today my megane decided it had been problem free for long enough!

I noticed on my way to work that the radio would not turn on. The LCD is illuminated and shows the time and a very cold temperature, the power button for the unit is also illuminated. Even more annoying though is that I noticed after work that the LCD display was still on and will not turn off. I'm going to pull a few fuses out now to try and save my battery but any suggestions as to what would cause this? It's a standard unit and the wiring hasn't been touched.

thanks

Check the cover on the headlight access hatch on the front left wheel arch liner. If it is missing, then expect more problems soon due to the UPC getting wet.

You need disconnect then reconnect your radio.
I have had this problem happen a few times.
Always when in cold weather, the display staying on will not drain the battery,
You can remove and disconnect the radio and reconnect (all plugs) or disconnect car battery.
You will need enter radio code
Best of luck

OK so I got the radio sorted by leaving the battery disconnected for half an hour or so. All was well with the Megane for nearly a whole day! And then the alarm went off in the middle of the night, I went out to have a look and found one of the rear windows had opened itself. Got into the car and was greeted by a delicious burning/melting plastic smell and no power to the windows, marvellous! It's booked in now for Renault to do their worst. I just have to pray for no rain or opportunist thieves for a week as I can't close the damn window!
