1.4 Megane 2 wont start off button

Postby djallane » Wed Apr 22, 2015 9:28 pm

Hi
I have recently purchased this car (megane 2 1.4 estate) and come to start it earlier and all i get is a relay clicking when i press the start button. The electronic steering lock releases fine and it starts with a push / tow with no problems. I have checked all the fuses including the ones under the bonnet next to the battery and all are fine, also tried a freshly charged battery off my other vehicle but still nothing. Had Aa come out to try get me going and the guy said its either a faulty keycard or the card reader... cant see how tho when it starts off a bump? Any help will be much appreciated :-)

Forgot to say i have also checked the switch on the clutch pedal as this broke on my mates megane, even unplugged it and crossed the wires to make it think pedal was down but made no difference :-(

Just fixed mine!!! (well it started twice now)

Try removing the battery, and taking out the upc. You'll have to remove ever multipug on it and the main positive (13mm nut thingy). Now there are two multiplugs that are tucked in right against the side of the cover at the inner wing side, one is blue, one is an orangey brown and both of them have like a black latch on them.

Take the orangey brown one

there should be an orange wire coming off it

check if that connection is corroded (even if is seem very slight)

Clean it, contact cleaner even wd40 and a interdental stick worked for me

remove the tape wrap on the loom and do a gentle tug test on the smae orange wire to make sure it hasn't broken further down.

if it's ok, put everything back together

make sure your battery is charged.

lock the car then unlock it (immobiliser wake up)

get in, try to start it. I might not work first time, mine worked on the second prod.

let me know if that works. I'll admit I stoll this from RenaultForums.com where a lot of people seem to have this issue on MegII's or Lagunas
