Hi, the handbrakes gone on the megane.
You can press the button and move it up and down on the ratchet and the garage says the cable to calipers is fine but won't get involved any further.
Any ideas as I've had a brief search but can't find anything specific?
Cheers.

Re: handbrake broken
If the cable is intact I would check that it's not stretched as that won't work if happened. Check it's connected on to the breaks and is not just sat there. I can't be to hard to find mate as only the cable so just start at the top and work ya way down bud

Re: handbrake broken
From what I remember there are 2 cables running from each caliper under the car then through some holes into the body and up into the area where the handbrake is.
These two cables are attached to another contraption that is then attached to the handbrake.
You need to get at the workings of your handbrake which unfortunately means removing the armrest if you have that.
My guess is that the cables have either stretched too much, snapped off, come loose, or that the adjuster has come loose. Either way you need to get at them.
Double check that they are attached at the caliper

Re: handbrake broken
Glad u sorted it out mate. My pass window was not working and when took the wife to hospital in coming back to the car the window was down. Took door card off etc and it was not even connected on the switch ha ha.
Put back on a works spot on no issues.

Re: handbrake broken
Make sure it is not overly tight, as garages often adjust them incorrectly. It should be doing about 8 clicks on the ratchet; read the manual for a more precise measurement.
Sometimes the handbrake arms on the calipers become seized. Make sure they travel back fully to the stop. It's quite important for the adjusters inside the calipers.
