Intermittent loss of power - Megane 2.0

Postby KevinLC » Tue Dec 02, 2014 3:00 pm

Hi All, I have a 2005 Megane 2.0 CC. When I accelerate, I have a complete loss of power at around 3500rpm with a strange noise coming from the engine which I cant identify. If I accelerate very slowly, then the fault does not appear. I have revved the car in neutral and the problem pops up, she then idles rough for a few seconds and then the engine corrects itself. I have individually disconnected the coils but cannot replicate the fault? Was thinking it may have something to do with the injectors or the fuel pump?

There are no warning lights or messages coming up but I may point out that I was running very low on fuel looking for a fuel station when the fault first appeared. Could it be air in the fuel system or possibly dirt from the bottom of my fuel tank?

Needless to say, I am not able to drive with car until I have sorted the fault out, so any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Kevin

hi,if you put your foot on the pedal quickly dose it sound like air is sucking in first before the engine picks up , if so it may be a fault with the inlet manifold ,I had a similar problem with my 2,ltr and replacing it solved the problem, hope this helps.

Hi there, thank you so much for the advice. Sucking air in is exactly what it does! I will replace the manifold and post my feedback.
