1.4 16v Dynamic over reving and cutting out.

Hi all.
I have been through the old posts as best I can and can't seem to find my problem, similar but not exactly the same. Apologises if I'm posting an old problem.

I have an 02 1.4 16v 90k on the clock.
The idle varies between 1500 and 2100 all the time (started about 5 weeks ago).
frequently but intermittently as I slow for a junction, lights etc press the clutch and the revs jump
to 5000+ and the engine dies.
It is then very hard to restart taking minutes of button pushing and waiting.
Finally it coughs and half starts a couple of times before firing up.
It can then run fine for a day or two or do the same thing again and again.
I've replaced all plugs and coil packs. I had the RAC out and he came up with
throttle pedal sitting at 15% when at idle.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

You need to take a closer look at the OBD readings, fuel trim and temperature first of all. Then look at the reading from the throttle pedal while operating it slowly (do not start the engine for this).

If you replaced the coils and spark plugs as a response to this problem, then you may need help of someone with experience.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Sorry for the delay but I work away.
I will book the car into my local independent Renault garage and ask them to check it over and see what they
come up with.
As for the coil packs and plugs, coil 3 failed so I replaced them all and changed the plugs at the same time as I don't know when they were last changed (had the car only 2 months) but thanks anyway.
