check injector fault codes

Postby miked82 » Thu Aug 21, 2014 8:34 pm

HI guys, ive had the car a month now and bought it with a mis fire. well i didnt know till i got it looked at. vibrated in the car and was rough running and in limp mode.
So gets injectors read and 2 were miles away from other 2. 2 were down to -150 or thereabouts whilst other 2 were around -110 ish under load.
Anyway, have replaced all 4 injectors today and car runs fine and boosts fine. BUT 'check injector' is still on.
So looked at the faults and shown:

Turbo Pressure Sensor Circuit
Egr valve position circuit
Egr valve control circuit malfunction
tried resetting and after 15 mins all came on again lol

been told to change turbo pressure sensor which is a MAP sensor? 1 vac pipe and electrical plug. whereas someone said change turbo solenoid which has 2 vac pipes down by the turbo? and change or clean egr valave and ill be good to go?

can anyone shed some light as im getting mixed up on the 2 items lol

hy there,

the pressure sensor should not worry you for now until the EGR is not cleaned, an malfunctioning EGR may give several errors besides the EGR it self. the sensor is on the air intake pipe a few inchs before the air goes into the engine.

good luck

thanks, yeah i know where that is. its right in front of the rad on mine, was going to buy one today but i cleaned the sensor with brake cleaner first. sprayed it inside and all over it and left it to dry in the sun. could see inside after that, looked like new lol
i then tried to clean the egr valve. i managed to get the silver end part off but i could not get the actual valve itself out :( the manifold was in the way and i couldnt prise it off so i put it all back together :(

the car itself is still boosting and pulls well, its never ran like this since we got it lol So the replacement injectors must be doing good :D

check injector still on tho, so going to get it back to garage and try clearing them again and see what happens.

sorry Service light.
I did reset service light manually but came back on.

i cleaned the map sensor / turbo pressure sensor yesterday. sprayed it with carb cleaner and all inside it. Left to dry few hours in sun, then re fitted. not sure if made any difference as not hooked it back to computer to find out.
Tried cleaning the egr valve too whilst i was at it, but i couldnt get the actual spring valve out. couldnt prise it off. got the silver long bit off but thats as far as i could do :/

You say your car car starts fine & drives & boosts good Then there cannot be a fault with either the egr valve or your boost pressure valve. I would imagine these fault codes your getting are red herring. Would need to be read by a good code reader

yeah starts first time from cold and hot. and goes well even also with 'check injector'/ service light on :?

it was a snap on that read them

the boost pressure valve, are you referring to the map sensor inline with the intake?
whats the other sensor for? the one with 2 vac pipes?

thanks

you really need to take out the whole EGR valve, with the silver part too. that is the mechanical part, if it is soaked in moist oil and carbon it will be mechanically stuck. it is very important to do this before any further diagnostics

good luck

The 3 fault codes that the code reader brought up all relates to circuit problems. Which in simple terms means you have wiring problems Can you post up your engine code starts with f9q ??? what are the 3 numbers after f9q.

C28

there is defo a wiring problem. since having new injectors fitted, its been fine for the week now its back to its usual self. every now and then, service and check injectot goes out and the car busts back into life and boosts fine. When we pull wiper stalk down once (intermittent) service light goes out. it is still vibrating badly :banghead
The whoe car is doing our heads in!
