would you?
Being a Megane II owner, would you recommend one to someone else?
- If yes, why?
- If no, why?
Just a general topic to get peoples general views on there cars!

I've said Yes...
despite all the problems people have had... i've been ok with them all.
maybe its cuz Renault QC has improved, i dont know. I do know my car is "new" and hasn't been sitting around for months on end.
i would however tell them to stay clear of the petrol engines .. unless its a 225;)

I would recommend a Megane (my 225 is my second Megane, I had a Mk I as well). Apart from minor door unlocking anoyances, I have had no problems.
And Ray, I would still have the petrol engine that I have in mine over a diesel.

I would let someone make their own mind up as the Mégane ll is such an enigmatic car. You can either love them or hate them. Thankfully they are getting better but continued stories of water ingress is not good.
It's a better car than lot of others about too!

No I wouldn't, not for any reason other than I don't recommend such pricely purchases as cars etc, hence if it's not to their liking my recommendation doesn't come back and bite me on the bum

I would recommend, although I find the fit n finish/build quality a bit shady!
some good points from the top of my head
- great diesel engine (1.9dCi), refined, torquey and smooth
- comfortable and refined ride
- great driving position
- Good handling, lots of grip
- Some nice features in the car (although electrical
)
- lots of cubby holes/storage areas and the huge glove box!
- the anti-dazzle rear view mirror
- (dare i say this
) the aftersales treatment I received from the sales dept/RCS! (free 36k service. free oil change at 27k, free 2 year extra warranty, £200 voucher from RCS) - but all that came with the minor problems which were on-going, but all is well now.
some not so good points from the top of my head
- would like some more passenger space (particularly rear legroom)
- the sound system isn't the best of quality, but acceptable
- the car sounds like its going to fall apart/dashboard thuds when going over bumps/speed bumps (obviously at low speeds)
- I still find the brakes a tad sensitive in heavy traffic jams!
- auto wipers are a bit of a hit or miss
- acceptable levels of 'lean' 'body roll' during cornering - I would comprimise some ride quality for less body roll
- minor squeaks/rattles thuds at intermittent times
- (I will definately say this!) Service dept. is a hit or miss situation
