1.5 DCI Gearbox Oil

I've read all the posts I can find relating to the best gearbox oil to put in a 1.5 but there doesn't seem to be a consensus - just lots of different suggestions. Can anyone reccomend a specific brand of oil which would possibly help with smoothing out my notchy gearbox? Many thanks.

Specifically the problem I'm hoping to help with the oil change is that it's often very hard to find either 1st or 2nd gear. There's also a little bit of gearstick movement in 5th gear when accelerating but I see in another post that this is considered fairly usual.

Oddly enough I've found that the gears seem to smooth out for 10 min or so after filling my car with fuel, not sure what that's about! I do have to go up and down a very steep slope to get into the petrol station but I've never noticed the gear smoothing effect after going up ant other steep hills, bizzare..!
