CC Suspension Question

Postby danielhurrell » Sat Mar 01, 2014 11:15 am

Hi

I need to replace the front N/S Spring as it has snapped. Will a spring off a normal megane fit exactly the same or is the CC different? Any one done this before to a CC?

Thanks

CC springs are differant I belive. they have to carry more weight with that glass roof, I had quite a job compressing my front spring, I point worth thinking about though, I changed one spring for a Non genuine one, car handles ok for around 3 months after that it kind of went down hill it almost felt like the front suspension was fighting with itself to keep car stable, handles terrible in gusty wind.
ended up with ventura lowering springs and standard shocks dropped it around 15mm handles superb now.
But I do belive they are differant to standard Meg springs.
you will have to split bottom ball joint to get the strut out as the spring will now be to long, you will need a top mount and bearing as the spring destroys it when it snaps.
sorry for the bad news

The springs are colour coded. You need a matching one unless both are replaced. Yes, they are of different stiffness for different models.
