Hi from Sheffield

Postby ibiker » Sat Apr 05, 2014 9:12 pm

Bought my Megane II after owning a Megane I for about 6 years. My old one was a silver 52 plate 1.9dci, which I added a spoiler too, and tinted rear windows.

My new car is a black privilege, 2.0dci. Similarly I have added a rear spoiler and tinted rear windows, and gordini stripes. I know most people seem to hate stripes, but I am pleased I have done it today...

Also today I have had the experience of removing the front bumper due to a dipped headlamp bulb that I could not remove the easy way (due to the contacts within the bulb itself having broken loose by me trying to remove it) so thereby giving me no other choice. I managed the passenger one okay 12 months ago, but like I said, this drivers side one had to be prised from its mounting using a screwdriver! 3 hours later and the job was done. Quite enjoyed it actually!

Differences between the Megane I and II? The megane I had a much larger boot, and the door side pockets did not leak. Also, likely connected with the water ingress, is a faulty electric window that moves up and down an inch at a time, but does at least still work. I suspect its the temic unit everyone seems to talk about - might get that sorted one day by buying a unit off ebay.

How do Ian and welcome along :-)

A search for your leccy windows issue will throw up lots of results, could be linked to the water ingress but there was a known issue for which RUK sometimes stand part of the cost so, worth finding out more from here and contacting them if linked.

Good luck with it :tu

Hi Ian and welcome. The windows can be repaired with Renault paying 76% of the cost (so Renault UK have told me last week) with all meganes up to 10 years old. Mine (2008 model) has the passenger one acting up every so often. This still leaves you with a bill of between £80 and £110. I've not had mine done yet. I get it going again by removing the speaker grill and speaker and moving the wires on the motor. Hope this helps. :D
