the noise is more like a vibration when under load/taking my foot off the accelerator and changing gear. could they have got the timing wrong?

...and how do you think the noise is related to the headlights?..

Just take the car back and ask them to diagnose the problem.

Lol I don't know just noticed it on the way back from the garage(the headlights flickering) don't know if it would be related to the vibration issue..ive never owned a Renault and know some suffer from major problems. thought a forum would be a good place to ask as the people on them would know a lot more about issues and problems.

OK... I don't know why the lights are flickering. There are just wires and bulbs, as in all other cars. Flickering may indicate a fault with the alternator, battery, or wiring. You may want to investigate it ASAP. This fault may start affecting various ECUs in the car... It may or may not have relationship to the previous repairs. The garage worker might have disconnected and then connected back the battery. You need to check if it was done correctly.

The new sound is likely to be caused by the job. Have a look in the manual and check everything which was disturbed or replaced. Check if the bracket of the engine mount is installed on the old imprint in the paint. It can be also the tentioner. Was it replaced, BTW? Were the belts replaced as well?
