Engine vibrates on idle plus crap mpg

Hey guys first post is a problem sorry lol bought my 1.9 dci 120 last week but it vibrates at idle, idle is around 875, do the mounts usually go? I cleaned the egr valve and since I've done it the mpg has went down a bit, it was doing around 44mpg but now it's 40mpg, which isn't good, plus the engine doesn't rev any higher when it's cold, maybe coolant sensor? Could the vibration be a injector? What would my revs be sitting at if it was an injector? Any help would be great thanks

Use OBD and don't assume that any servicing was done recently. Most secondhand cars are badly neglected.

I serviced the engine my self at the weekend, I'm going to bring it to a guy today hopefully his diagnostics are up to scratch, what is obd? Thanks

Mine used to do that. Not sure why but after using Radweld to sort out problem with water leak/ cooling system it stopped doing it . Mine still pulls crap mpg but it also needs new injectors and it now has a major oil leak, its just one thing after another......... hope u get urs sorted.

Yeah mate feel your pain I just sold my audi tt which had an oil leak, pain in the ass, im thinking of just Blanking the egr but I'd need to get it mapped to keep the lights out of the dash, are your injectors bad? Is it off a cylinder?

Ive not had it checked out properly but it just sounds like its an injector down. Makes a tappety kind of noise and the check injection light is on. Until the oil leak it was driving fine. Struggles starting in the morning from cold but think it could do with nee glow plugs too.

Car is back, the mechanic found nothing wrong with the car, needs a suspension arm and driveshaft but i cant see that making the car vibrate...... strange one, there is no faults either, i might buy a new egr valve to see what happens, its only 50 quid

my car has dropped in mpg down to about 40 it usually does it this time of year due to cold weather.

my check injection light was solved by fitting new glow plugs.

Did you check to see if your egr valve moves freely enough when you cleaned it so it isnt stuck open/closed.

Well my dad owns a garage but doesn't work on French cars he hates them but he gave me some stuff called depatane I think it's called that, plus I changed the fuel filter, put over half a tank of fuel in it last night and I took it for about a 40 mile drive, I reset the mpg display and guess what I'm averaging 48 mpg, though saying that I have been driving like a granda to get it, car is still vibrating, it doesn't vibrate all the time though as I noticed today seriously don't have a clue,the whole front end vibrates and you can hear all the plastics vibrating in the cabin as well,dont fancy bringing it to Renault as they will charge a fortune to even look at it, if the mpg starts playing up again il test the egr like you said and see if it moves freely cheers

I've got a similar issue, mine vibrates when i pull up at the lights when the car is cold, but seems to get better when it warms up. My economy has nose-dived recently, was gertting mid fifties(lots of motorway ) but its now late 40's I know the cold would take some off but not that much!

going to throw some injector cleaner through it and clear out the egr.

Becarefull on EGRs there appears to be two types, the cylinder type from the MK1 DCi (£50)



and a weird multi lobe version on other DCIs (£150+)

well i just drove out at lunch time and it didnt vibrate but then it happened 10 mins later after driving.... mines the one in the first pic, just a mystery, now what i did notice when i took out my egr valve, one of the threads on the bolts was damaged, so the thread going into the casing was damaged too so i had to put a few washers on the bolt and nipped it up, im just wondering is any air getting in... doubtfull though
