hello I have a few niggles with my car i need help with
1. pulling off id say is quite dangerous unless i use high revvs and spin the wheels there is just no go there until i hit 2000rpm and the turbo kicks in would a remap help this issue or would it be the egr valve (as stated in the 1.5dci thread on here)
2. rear passenger door creaks a lot at slow speed unless slammed shut really hard
3. sticking sunroof (plenty of info on here)
4. sticking mirrors
5. very poor sound from the radio/cd... would a aftermarket head unit fix this or are the speakers crap too?
6. poorish mpg currently getting around 38-39 mpg is that about right?
other than that im very impressed with the car and it so much better than my alfa which always broke down lol

Hi
Taking your questions 1 & 6 together, I'd say you have a problem. My 1.9DCi will pull away from not much more than idle speed, and averages about 52 mpg.
Personally, I would want to find out what is wrong with the current configuration (assuming it is original) rather than trying to change things with a re-map.
Unless there is any obvious noise or exhaust smoke to give a clue, then I'd say it needs to go on a diagnostic computer.

Agreed, we had 3 x 1.5dCi engined Modus' for my wife all of which drove superbly, pulled away well and returned a fairly consistent 56mpg.

Hi. Try some CARLUBE Injector cleaner (for Diesel's) in the Tank and give it a good run down a motorway/fast road, do about 50 miles should give the system a good clean out. If that does not work you need to get a Computer on it to check readings ETC. CARLUBE lot cheaper, about £5.00 a Bottle.
Door/Mirrors & Sunroof, sound like a bit of Oil/Grease Lubricant on them, plus get some "Rubber Lubricant" as well as Renault Rubber seems to go Hard! should be soft.
Radio, cannot help there, check connections on the back you could be lucky.
460316DSG1
P.S. You should get 50 = 54 miles per Gallon

Hi Neil,
Focus on the point #1 for now.
Check the clear pipe to the high pressure pump for bubbles of air, drain water from the fuel filter or replace it, fill up with Shell standard fuel, check the timing belt, read the OBD codes. I will be happy to discuss any of these points. "Comma Diesel Detox" (not "Magic"!) and "Motul Diesel System Clean" fuel additives help, in my experience. Many others just give a temporary effect. In order to make an additive work you will need to drive continuously for a couple of hours. Do not use Carlube stuff mentioned earlier, it is a mix of kerosene, oil and a tiny amount of cetane improver.
Many expensive problems in these cars are caused by bad oil, oil filter, and incorrect oil drain procedure. These do not affect running too much, though. If the car is using oil, it may be an indicator of approaching turbo failure.
The belt, as I mentioned above. If on the last legs, it may cause loss of power. Worse, if it snaps, then the engine will be destroyed. The timing belts serve maximum 5 years or 72k miles, whatever comes first. Do not drive if it wasn't replaced. Check it!
