dci 120 3dr project car

Postby sunchman » Tue Sep 10, 2013 1:44 am

Hello all

I am planning a long term project on my recently purchased megane 120 dci. The car I bought from a scrapyard needing a new cambelt and unfortunately a new head or new valves due to cambelt breaking.
The big idea is to tune the car up and find a nice kit, plenty of which are around for megane 2. (If you are willing to import from Europe). Aswell as eventually a full satnav/dvd audio system and full retrim, so yes no half measures unfortunately! ;)
I am aware this may take a good while to sort out and am under no illusions about the work involved as I been at a garage off and on for a few years now.
I am fairly aware of the potential of the engine for very solid Torque/bhp outputs and prefer the performance/economy balance to the petrol turbo 225 or similar. I am keen to know of good companies who would fit a full system exhaust to help it breath more freely and also any other classy bits that are available for the dci 120 besides engine mapping, filters etc. Been looking at companies such as ktec racing and searching the net, but not too many about tuning 120 dci's?????
Hopefully with enough help I can make this happen to the standard I want to achieve.
Probably the most obvious place to start would be to ask how to upload pictures of the car and also what I have on my shopping list to give you an idea of what I'm trying to do?? :P

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!
Adam.

Hi mate.
Thanks for that think I got it... :P
Image
This is just a photo of the car. Provided I have got the hang of it I can upload links for the stereo components and other bits I have chosen. Just for people to give and opinion on and show in more detail what I'm trying to do.
Cheers for the input.
Adam.

...

How do I add images directly to the post instead of adding a 'tedious' link? :P

Thanks.

when you post an image make sure your image tag is in between the [img]placeimagetag[/img] or just copy the image tag from photbuket last one on the right of your photo and paste it into your post

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.

Think I have got the hang of uploading now, thanks!
I have started to strip the engine on the car ready for the the replacement head to go on with the cambelt etc. I am really struggling for space to work so will probably be a while before its all done. Going to upload pictures of the car as I want to look aswell as the stuff I want to go into it at a later date. Hopefully in a while it will turn into a real winner.
I do have one question for the pros amongst you. Should test the best.lol Is there any way to get rid of the annoying beeping sound you get if you don't put your seatbelt on? I'm guessing its a sensor in the belt clip or something? Any way to bypass or eliminate it without ruining the car. Don't mind the light on the dash just the beep annoys me a bit. Also, is it an Mot failure if it doesn't beep??
Many thanks guys.
Adam.

P.S: A link to the site with the kit I intend to buy.

You Can buy a clip of eBay that just clips into the seatbelt socket to save changing any wiring

Thanks mate. Is a useful item. Worth a look.
Just for the satisfaction of doing it. Is it possible to deactivate the alarm buzzer?
Thanks.
