dpf filter removal

Postby freelanderuk » Wed Jul 31, 2013 4:15 pm

i have had the warning light come on the dash for the dpf filter a couple of times now, took car for a good run and light went , been looking into getting the filter removed and the ecu remapped to remove the dpf settings, (i already have the car remapped so something else i have to look into)

i can not find a replacement pipe for the dpf removal apart from one for the 175 megane
https://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=3862
would this fit the 1.9dci cc or could i buy the replacement exhaust pipe for the non fap engine
cheers
for any advice

Could you not just go to a custom exhaust place and get them to remove dpf? K-tech states you will still get intermitent warning light with their product so might aswell see if you can get it done with proper welding, might be cheaper than £150 plus fitting, just a thought :-)

the £150 is for the dpf removal pipe , you then have to have it remapped to disable the dpf warnings and regen , a local company has given me a price of £383 to remove the dpf ,open it and remove the innards refit and do a full remap , the company use quantum tuning who i have used for my motor-home and i am very pleased with the result , so i think i will go down this route :-)

In surmising that by having the innards removed and the canister replaced it is now part of the MOT that they check for a dpf, where fitted as standard, is still in place?

i am having the dpf cut open and the innards removed then re-welded and the cover plate replaced , remapped to remove all traces of dpf from the ecu, the dpf is not part of the mot for diesels so no problem there , the company thats doing it is Louth Volkswagen racing using quantum tuning custom remaps

Will let you know what its like when done , not really expecting much more as it was already remapped but a bit more mpg would be nice :-)

picked up the car :-) Jed has done a very neat job of removing the inside from the dpf , nicely welded up and sprayed heat resistant black, can not tell to much about the remap as only driven 16 miles home but pulls like stink in 6th gear, the trip computer normally shows an average of 47.6 mpg whilst driving but when i arrived home this was a 52.7mpg so only time will tell as i always log my mileage and fuel i have put in every fill up since the day i bought it on a smart phone app

Mines 7 months of warranty left, for what it's worth  I just need to decide whether I'm keeping it or not, if I do is definitely getting mapped, cheers Chris :tu
