Hey there guys and girls.
Iv had my megane dci 120bhp for 2 weeks now and this being my second post on the forum. I am enjoying it and just had cambelt and service done.
I did have a 250bhp astra turbo (owned for 2 years) before so this is a downgrade but hopefully saving me money as i was spending £60 a week in fuel.
Anyways the first thing i wanted to do was a remap or maybe a tuning box. I looked high and low for the right person to remap and didnt care who did it as long as they didnt f**k it up.
I would of loved to go up to RS Tuning in leeds. But £400+ for a remap (live or not) i just cant justify that amount of cash just for a extra 30-35bhp.
I came across 'REMAP SCIENCE'.
No one has heard of them and no reviews of them. Looks like this will be the first one.
It didnt look all that good on the website but did have my car listed.
I phone them up and came round to mine at 7pm (same day) from bradford to Sheffield instead of the next day which was better for me.
He plugged up the laptop upto the obd port and what looked like 'alienware' technology. Anyway, he read my original file and saved it. Then he told me that he had to save and store my 'injectors' code which made me very worried!
After this he sent the file off to head office and 15-25min later recieved a modified file. He uploaded it without no problems at all.
We went out for a spin and thought it was just 'ok'. Nice pull in 3rd and felt quicker. I pulled up outside my house and told his team over the phone in bradford what i thought of the map and told him what it was missing. I told him my remapped VW Bora 115bhp was faster with more punch.
Anyways 15 minutes passed and the new modified file was ready to be uploaded again. It wouldnt load onto the car at first but i wasnt that worried as my car was working with a better map on in the first place. After afew settings changed it uploaded fine. we fired up the beast and went out for another test drive and OH MY GOD, what a difference. This is how it should of left the manufacturer like a little rocket! Lots of punch and pulled right upto the limiter. Was it worth calling remap science 'yes'.
Was it worth 200 notes 'yes'.
Would i get a tuning box for the same money as a remap 'no way'.
Would i pay 400+ for a remap 'no' Not unless loads of mods have been done to the engine which i haven't done and wont do in the future.
Would i use them again 'maybe'.
According to the website, they were ment to take a diagnostic results (faults, problems etc) non were taken which should of set alarm bells ringing. But iv remapped loads of astra's in my time so i know what he needed to do but it didnt bother me as i was after a cheap but good result.
These are nice guys and did a good job of the motor. Only time will tell now. At least i know my original file was rewritten and NOT generic map files which have to be different to each renault.
Anyway, thanks for reading guys as a 'first review' of this company on the renault forum should be noted of my experience.

Re: Remap by Remap Science
A remap is on my list of things to do for my 130dci, after a good service that is. I'd love to know how you get on with this longterm, especially mpg figures cos i only seem to get 48 to the gallon on a run; i have heard even with a sporty remap you get more mpg but would like to know if its true.
Re: Remap by Remap Science
It depends on the map and the integrity of the person encoding it. Before and after I had my car mapped, I did an experiment, which I documented on here. The results were that with light handling, I got 80.3mpg or a +39mpg improvement on a measured run. Also, the bhp and torque figures on the 1.5 matched or exceeded the 1.9 120 when 'booting' it.

Re: Remap by Remap Science
Hey guys am back.
Right its been 6 maybe 7 days now since the remap and i can tell you its all good!
There are no signs of any clouds of smoke when flooring it (only alittle when turbo kicks in) and mpg is really good.
Clutch is fine too with it handling the power with ease!
I do 40 miles per day and iv put £45 in the tank before the remap and still got according to the computer 150 miles left in the tank. Iv already done 320 miles. So 470 miles off £45 is excellent to me as the astra only did 150 of £45 (v-power unleaded).
Plus i dont hang around sometimes lol. But i do try and keep a steady foot as am trying to prove to our lass running a diesel is cheaper while producing good power.
When the technician came to remap my car he said i can do eco, eco power or power tune. So there are other options to what you can have.
If you do decide to go with remap science just make sure your happy with the results. If not, ask them to tweek it alittle but i was warned these turbo's are weak. But he only tweaked it so
I think the first map was all the power at the bottom end of revs. But the map now is power all throughout the rev range which i wanted in the first place.

This is also my experience. The RPM increases linearly when the turbo kicks in at 1500 - 1800 RPM - unusual for a diesel.

To be honest, i think they do it for towing purposes or to make you feel pinned in your seat. But it runs out of puff after 2500rpm.
But im happy with the way things are running and i wont bother with any other tuning properties as its only getting me to work and back. If i want more power etc il just get a better diesel. Maybe a 150bhp or 175bhp and get that remapped. Then youe laughing!

Re: Remap by Remap Science
thanks ever so much big help that i am traveling to them 2moz for a remap on my 1.5dci megane so will keep you all upto date with progress i am jus t lookin for abit more response feels a lil dead after 2500rpm so hopefully picks up abit more i hope cheers
Re: Remap by Remap Science
As I previously stated, mine will pull from 1500 or so RPM through to 4000 in a linear fashion. I do tow frequently, but that is not why I had the map done in the first place. I get better fuel economy and the same figures from the 1.5 as the stock 1.9 in terms of BHP and torque.
This wasn't a map from remap science, but that is beside the point. Re-mapping is a good idea on turbo diesels.

A remap for any turbo car is a good thing lol. I know remapping a petrol i dont think you get more mpg, just more bhp.
