Hi everyone
Drivers Side door is driving me nuts.It croaks like like a door in a haunted house when i open or close it.I have used half a tin of" WD40 best" on the hinges
and door arrestor,,but it is still there.

Re: drivers Door "croak"
If the car is new as in 9 months old, simply take it back to the dealership and have it repaired.
Since you are posting in the Mk II forum, your car may be several years old. As I recall, there are two hinges and one door arrestor (on the five door). It sounds like your problem is with the arrestor and not the hinges, but you can check this by moving the door at different angles and listening.
WD40 is not the answer: it is (by way of its initials) a water dispersant. It will not help. What you need is some grease, common or garden, or lithium based.
Should that not help, I would imagine there is a page or two in the manual for servicing this fault. On some cars, removing the door panel is required to replace the arrestor, and thus to replace it. Sometimes they become worn through use and bizarrely scratch the window glass (internal fault).
Check that the door closes properly and without trouble - this may steer you toward the hinges instead.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: drivers Door "croak"
Don't apologise! Penetrating oil will only work for a short time though, it may make the problem worse over time since it is a higher fraction oil that will displace the existing grease. If you have warranty, use it. And let us know what happens.
I agree about the dealership, generally speaking...
