Locking a convertible with the roof down

Postby mav_10 » Wed Mar 14, 2012 11:33 am

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to lock a megane convertible when the roof is down without the alarm going off?
I would have thought it was possible but not with mine!
I got the car (an 04) about 6 weeks ago and I would like to lock it when the roof is down!

stop car, get every one out apart from you.
press button to turn off car.
Remove key
As SOON as steering lock activates
press start button five times (no feet on any pedals, and 5 good quick presses making sure the buttons comes fully up between presses)
get out immediatly this is done close door and press lock button
car will lock but you should here a couple of audible bleeps from the boot area (driverside)
this tells you ultrasonics (I think ) are disenguaged.
If you dont hear the bleeps from the boot it has not worked.

mine is an 04 DCi works every time on mine by doing the above I think when it fails I haven't pressed the start button enough times or not done them clear enough it needs 5 good preses and of course releases, I think I sometimes catch it out by pressing it to quickly and not letting the button come fully up maybe.
Hop this helps

Chris,

That's the best description of the procedure I have read. :gg2:

The alarm handbook says 5 presses

I saw on another forum that it needed 3 presses

My 09 megane takes 4 presses

Go figure :)
