check injectors message

Postby Gary8585 » Sun Jan 08, 2012 11:02 pm

I have a 05 plate megane privilege 1.9dci 120bhp

a short while ago the engine light came on with the service light but it displayed no particular message on the message screen in the dash.
when i was driving these lights would go off and then later come back on. They would sometimes not come on at all so i have not thought much of this being a big problem but in the last week the lights have stayed on constantly still with no message.

When i have been getting to around 3000rpm the exhaust has been blowing white smoke and sut so i have been travelling at low revs, until today i was approaching a junction at around 2000rpm and braking when the revs shot up to the limiter entirely on its own as my foot was on the brake. the message board was showing "check injectors" so I stopped the car, put it in neutral and put the handbrake on. plumes of white smoke started coming from the bonnet, underneath, exhaust and through the vents. I tried to switch the car off but it wouldnt at first but even when the ignition went off the revs were still at the max. after about 1 minute this stopped and the car wouldn't start again. now there is just a click when i try and start it and it still says "check injectors".

I have read the other posts about the check injector message and none of them have anything like this in them.

anyone got any suggestions on what could have caused this and what sort of damage am i looking at to get it running again?

thanks in advance!

just a chance your injectors are dripping, basically a build up from them dripping to much into the combustion chamber and the white smoke is the excess fuel being burnt off, they'd need removing to check there tips mate, which can either be pss easy or a total pig depending on how stuck in they are,

the other thing you need to bear in mind is all that unburnt fuel/smoke will be reaping havoc with your fap/dpf(diesel particulate filter) so once issue is sorted do a good trip along a motor way about 3k rpm for a constant 10 minutes to do a forced regen.

i oftern guess mate but normally found to be in right area and had this exact issue with a 307 hdi110 and issue was solved so best of luck,

easiest way is get it in a garage for an leak test, where they pop 4 bottles on to check the amount of fuel being passed. its about 20ml tops mine were all at 80ml.

It will be your turbo and probably your engine if you didn`t turn it off, check your oil level ,it will probably be empty !!!!
