my engine mount snapped when i turned left out of a road, going slowly. gearbox dropped and cracked and mid exhaust has been moved downwards and cracked too. gearbox had to be sent away to be mended. unlucky eh?

HOW DO!
I have a scenic 1.5 dci ive got a rumble from the off side front mainly when in gear done track rod end, and drop link, brakes, and all round them bits look good! now i am looking at the top engine mount. Can anyone tell me how big the gap between mount and bracket on top is on a good engine mount??????? I can get my little finger in mine good fun but is this the norm?? :D :) :banghead like that one! :rock :banghead :banghead :pc

there isnt a gap measure for that, at least i dont know one. ive managed to check them by visual examine the rubber. if its perished it must be swapped, a few cracks are acceptable. For the top right mount isnt like this, its hydraulic. The only really way to check it is to take it out and test it out side.

good luck

That engine mount resembles a dog bone. It is alloy in construction with a rubberised two-part interior. Removal is easy. Support the sump (trolley jack with block of wood) and raise the engine a few mm. A couple of 16/18/19mm bolts later, and a piece of cast alloy will leave it free to inspect. Check for obvious damage such as cracking, missing pieces, or total implosion (metal on metal contact such as filings). It should be pliable in all directions equally. Failure is normally very easy to see by eye.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

the other mounts can be visually checked using the criteria that ive posted before. can be other things such as steering rods, suspensions top struts, etc. unfortunately the list goes on...

cheers

ive placed one 3 months ago, the engine still shake a LOT when im at 40 - 60 mil/h when i slightly put the foot on the gas and remove it, sometimes when i change chears and when im start to roll a little more fast, gives the sensation that the lower support bar is completely broken but is not, in fact ive made one crazy thing, ive swapped the lower mount by a steel bar, drilled the holes to fit correctly in the screw holes, it would not shake from there for sure, but guess what, it shakes anyway, the same way...right now ive replaced ALL the engine supports, shock absorbers etc, but i really notice that the upper support is very close to the bottom...it could be it...anyone have a picture how it should be? mine is 2 or 3 mm from the bottom but its a new part, FEBI by the way, it should be good..

Has anyone tried changing the engine temp sensor?

Mine does it aswel but tends to do it once in a blue moon when its warm but most of the time when its cold! Could it be a cold start problem from a dodgy coolant temp sensor?
