Hi
Is there a common issue with the milage/digital display going blank on the mk3's? I've been looking at buying a mk3 and a couple of the cars I've looked at have had the same problem.

Re: Milage screen issue?
Hi
I have just had the milage display go to --- miles. My Megane 3 is 5 weeks old and has done 1200 miles. Interestingly, this is the first time I have had the low fuel alert. At that point the milage was 55 miles and it switched to --- about 3 miles later. Of course, just the time when you actually need it.
I will be refuelling early next week, and then visit the dealer.
Regards
Chris

Re: Milage screen issue?
When you say 'mileage' display, do you mean the 'total' mileage, 'trip' mileage, or the 'range' mileage which advises how far until you need fuel?
If it the 'range' then it is normal for this to go to '---' below a certain point to discourage you from sucking the last dregs from the bottom of the tank.
If huw was looking at the 'range' also in cars for sale at dealers this would regularly show '---' as dealers leave almost no fuel in cars on the forecourt.
Having said all that, if it's the 'total' mileage display that's going blank then I don't have an answer for that!

Hi
Yes, it is the range mileage that gets set to ---. As soon as I refuelled it came back to normal.
I can understand that may be a good idea to not run the fuel to empty, but when you are out travelling and may not be passing any petrol stations it is useful to know if you can get to the next major town or have to divert to look for fuel. It would be better if the range display went to flashing and turned off at 15 miles, which would show that you do need to divert.
In my case, I was about 20 miles from Banbury and travelling on lanes. When I loaded it took 50 litres, so there should have been another 5-10 litres in the tank.
Also, from experience, there is always fuel left in the tank when the range goes to zero. I had a Honda Civic which was borrowed and returned to the office with the range to 1 mile, and it was 2 miles to the nearest station. It made it there easily and probably had about 10 miles range in it.

Re: Milage screen issue?
when mine goes to ----- I reset the trip counter so know how far I've driven since
the alarm went off! I'd rather the mileage continued counting down though.
