AIRBAG LIGHT

Postby evansgary9 » Fri Aug 05, 2011 1:53 am

Hi i have recently bought an 03 1.4 three door megane and have a couple of problems.
ok so the first problem is my airbag light all is ok when i start the car but after a couple of seconds there is a click from the door (sounds like door locking) not quite sure what this would be as only ignition been pressed then on comes the airbag light.
If anybody could give me an idea what the noise was and where to look i am sure this would be a simple fix.
The other thing is there is an abs fault pads and discs where done before i bought the car and are still in good order can i check and clean the sensors without taking calipers to pieces?

Re airbag light:- check connector under passenger seat is fastened properly. Because the passenger seat in the 3 door models is always being moved to let in rear passengers the connector can work loose.

the noise your hearing is the airbag system unlocking the doors as it would in a crash as it has detected a fault and is about to deactivate the airbag system. if the airbag light stays on until you turn the car of the steering lock should not engage.
as said morganjake1544 it is comon to be the wire or connector under the front seats. sometimes just a wiggle while vehicle is on is enough to put the light out. get a auto electrican to do the repairs as it is special wire and the wrong repair method would at best keep your light on at worst fire off a airbag.
renault would just fit new seat looms at a huge cost if you took it to them and this is not needed

I was missing the plastic rail so i put it back on and put the black box with the curly metal switch back on the metal bracket it clicks onto. even when the switch is in contact with the plastic pressing the switch the light still comes on. renault say the driver door will not close propperly could that be causing the problem.
