Embarrasing horn
Okay, the horn is embarrasing full stop. How can we get a proper working one fitted? Are there any known aftermarket ones?

Re: Embarrasing horn
I use my horn a lot to keep my road rage in check, at the moment though, it's like getting a little party sausage out of my car

Re: Embarrasing horn
Keep a look out on ebay for Fiat bravo/Brava horns, they are duel horns with excellent tone and LOUD! it is not a Renault Mmmmm excuse me please! type horn it is more a MOVE NOW!!!!! horn.
I changed mine a month or so back, as I went around a rounderbout t ofind a car in sitting accross my exit so i blew my horn, his window open he looked at me and laughed at my horn it was so pityful.
Paid around £10 plus post for them, made the secondry loom from some wire to operate the 2nd horn the came with thier brackets to bolted straight onto the front of the CC - now I am heard!
the Italians know how to make a horn sound good! I did hear that if you take yours out and tap it on the ground to get rid of the alloy build up inside it sounds better, apparantly the alloy reacts with the damp air and makes that fine white powder, which falls inside the horn, maybe worth a try, if it is any concellation my wifes Meg 1 has a crap horn as well!

I've just googled them and they seem to be around £35, will they just be a simple direct swap from the existing horn? Does anyone have any experiences fitting one as I'm seriously contemplating getting one.
Thanks

Re: Embarrasing horn
Yes I have fitted one. They come with a relay which is required as the standard horn circuit cannot handle the current the air horns pulls. It is very easy to wire in.
The sound it produces is fantastic

Re: Embarrasing horn
The existing horn is just in front of the radiator isn't it? So that'd be a front bumper job off? How long did it take you to fit?

Re: Embarrasing horn
Yeah it's a bumper off job. It only took about an hour all in all. You will need to buy your own wire and connectors to fit it.

I read this with interest because I'm always on the horn lol, a trick I learned in America, makes people pay attention, my horn is quite loud and attention grabbing, not the pathetic "parp" my last car gave out!

Re: Embarrasing horn
Any one got any photos showing how to remove the bumper?
Re: Embarrasing horn
Nah don't need to take the bumper off
Just pop the top grille out
Masking tape under the grille then a wallpaper scraper to lift up then out the grille then slide it out towards the wider end
Reach in theres the horn 15mm i think bolt undo it
Go to scrap yard get a new renault horn ((pocket discount) i do not condone hehe)
Smash it from the front to get conecter then when you buy a decent horn wire it into that so you do not need to cut your existing harness

Re: Embarrasing horn
You do need to remove the bumper
All the wires for the relay circuit need running to and from the battery, so the bumper does need to come off. It's not difficult, mine has been on and off more than a hookers knicks!

Re: Embarrasing horn
I am going to finally be buying one of these and fitting it on Friday, will I need any additional wiring kit? Or will the SN and relay included be adaquate? Also will I need to make any mounting brackets? or will it fit exactly in the spot the default horn is?
Thanks
Thanks
