Boot lock, key card

Postby Meganemog » Fri Jun 10, 2011 8:26 pm

Megane II CC: My key cards both will not unlock the boot. I have to press the start button in the car, get out, then open it. This is a real sodding nuisance with shopping and a pram to deal with. Is just that my key card is shot or is it something else? The card works other doors just fine.

The card must be OK if it allows you to open the doors and start the car. Sounds like a fault with the electrics that control the central locking for the boot. Is it keyless entry? Can't see why starting the car should make any difference, though.

Its not keyless entry. I just press the start button to open it, not start the engine, thats the only way it'll open.

Sounds to me like you have a electrical problem with that boot lock, pressing the start button charges the electrical system which make everything live (like turning you old ignition key on to what use to be called ACC (the stop just before you start it)), the boot lock sounds like it has no power until the system is "charged"
I belive they also have senors one on each door and one on the boot I am not sure if these are just hands free though or works from card button as well so yours may be differant, could well be your little rubber button which opens the boot has gone, they do pop out but you may have to remove your number plate depending on how high it was put as the edge of the switch just catches the top of the plate on mine, bit does sound like a sensor to me though, as if the boot sensor is not picking up the singal to unlock, once the start button is pressed the sensor is more than likely over ridden as you are already in the car with a working card.
So to me it seems you either have a sensor problem on the boot which I would look at first, or the boot locking switch has gone AWOL, but if it had then I can't see why it would open when the start button is pressed! Some one on here not long back was asking about door sensors he had found his boot one but not sure where the door sensors where, will try and find post so you can ask him where the boot sensor is. :)

It was about keyless entry but you may have sensors there as well for the radio signal . the keylees one is by the Badge inside the boot lid.
