Stereo Removal

Postby ianstoker » Thu Jun 02, 2011 9:14 am

Hey All,

I picked up my R26 a couple of days ago i'm loving the car, the stereo however not so much, so I have a few questions if you don't mind

I plan on installing a single dinn alpine unit from my previous car but I would just like to confirm that removing the stereo wont effect anything in the car,
I'm guessing not as its just a stereo but coming from a VX backround where the stereo was spidered into other systems I just thought I would check 1st..

Another question, Is the 57 plate Megane II running the Canbus System like the VX or have I got lucky and its not?

Cheers in advance
Ian

if you change to aftermarket head unit all you will lose is the track/radio station info on the small screen beside the clock in the middle of your dash. All it will give you is the time. You will also lose steering controls for the stereo.

You can get cables to sort them, so everything works, but if you aint to fussed i wouldnt bother as the cables cost anything from 50-80 quid.

But back to originall question, head units are straight swap, old one out, new one in. plug and play.. simple.

On a side note i have to say didnt expect the r26 to come with stereo etc.. thought it would be all cleared out for weight reduction.

Lovely choice of car tho.

same thing.. think the only diffrence between the 2 is that the r26 weighs 124kg less or something..:S and theres no rear seats

The f1's are brilliant.. thats my next purchase when insurance companies will actually give me cover for one without expecting thousands per year lol

Im 21 next month so should go down a little but untill then my pathetic 1.6 will have to do lol
