Renaults are crap...
I thought I would just say that after owning two Renaults (05 Clio 52k and 04 Megane 84k) they are the single worst brand of car that I have ever owned and should be avoided like the plague. I have never owned a more fragile car in my life.
They have both suffered engine mounting problems (expensive), electrical problems and suspension problems. Both are like money pits.
I once had a Lexus IS200 that when I had sold it at 136,000 miles, all that it had suffered was a blown headlamp bulb. I have had four Skoda Octavia's with ZERO problems.
Renaults are disposable cars that are OK if you run them under warranty but, be cautious if it's a banger.
I just thought that I would get that off my chest....ahhh, that's better.

I think it's quite fair for him to share his bad experience, we share all our good ones...

Re: Renaults are crap...
Just to balance this thread, lets remember that there's good and bad cars in every marque.
I've had 3 Renaults; a 5GT turbo - any issues I had with it were due to my tinkering, the 2nd was a Megane Coupe which was brilliant and the 3rd was a Megane II 1.6VVT auto sporthatch which was ok, I had a couple of issues with the Meg II but these were sorted out without any problem whatsoever by the dealer so there we go.
Amongst others that I've had have been a Vauxhall Chevette which was okay, 3 Volvo's 2 of which were quite poor and the third was an ex police 850 T5 estate so had been lovingly cared for (and tuned
) by the police and it showed, 2 Honda's both ultimately reliable but both boring as hell to drive, 1 Range Rover - this had more holes than bodywork so I don't really count that one, a mini 1275GT which was okay at the time but during the time I owned it the gearbox exploded and I remember I had ignition problems and when i came to sell it the sills were rotten, a MK III escort - brilliant apart from a slight oil leak, a MKII XR2 - brilliant, an Escort Cosworth - brilliant, 3 Subaru's all of which were very good except the last one which developed a serious EGR problem and on those engines it's expensive and I now have a Skoda Octavia vRS CR DSG which is, so far, touch wood, brilliant.

Yes no problem in voicing opinions, but to sign up to an owners club just to have a rant? A bit sad really.
Best to take your rants to Renault.

Only one question
If Renault are so bad why were you so retarded to buy a second one?

Re: Renaults are crap...
Do have to say I also think your a bit of a sad person to join up just to slag Renault's off. Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember when Skoda's were the worst things on the road so I still view them as that.
Anyone remember all these old jokes about them? If not enjoy
1. How do you double the price of a skoda?
Fill up the tank
2. Why do skodas have heated rear windscreens?
To keep your hands warm while your pushing it.
3. Have you got a wing mirror for a skoda?
Okay, seems like a fair swap
4. What do you call a skoda driver who say's he has a speeding ticket ?
A Dreamer
5. How do you increase the value of a skoda?
throw a penny in it.
6. What do you call a Skoda with a sun roof ?
A skip
7. Ive just bought the new 16 valve Skoda .......4 in the engine, 12 in the radio! (If you understand this and your under 40 then you need to get out more)
8. What is the difference between being inside Jessica Alba's bra and being caught inside a Skoda ? You feel a bigger tit in a Skoda !
9. What do you call a Skoda at the the top of a hill ?
A miracle.
10. How do you overtake a Skoda ?
Run
11. What is the difference between a school and a Skoda?
Schools breaks up and a Skoda breaks down
12. Why is a skoda and a baby similar?
They both never go anywhere without a rattle
13. How come the Skoda crossed the street?
It was supposed to be going along it but the steering failed
14. What do you call a Skoda with a really long radio aerial?
A bumper car
15. What colour shall i get my skoda in?
It doesn't matter, it'll go brown through rust after a week
16. How do you make a policeman laugh?
Tell him your skoda just got nicked
17. I bought the top spec skoda, this one came with an engine.
18. Tom: 'I was gonna buy a passat but I bought a mondeo instead'
Harry: 'I was gonna buy a skoda but i bought a bike'
19. How do you make a skoda more sporty?
Wear adidas trainers while driving it.
20. Whats the difference between stress and a skoda?
Stress makes you have a mental breakdown.

Re: Renaults are crap...
I would rather walk than drive a Skoda. They are the most miserable, boring, VW-wannabe cars.
It's the same with Toyotas, Nissans etc. I'd far rather be in a "fragile" Renault than be in some soul-less eurobox crap.
I'm 19 and I've owned countless Lagunas, a few Vel Satis', some Clios and my rock - the Mégane. Yes, they've all had their little problems, but the advantages far outweigh them, I absolutely love Renault as a brand.
And people like this with ignorant views continue to drive used prices down so carry on! Just bought a Laguna II for £375, and it's an excellent car!
Where's the fun in total reliability? I like a good problem or two to tackle

Re: Renaults are crap...
its a very negative attitude.
i'm 40 and had more cars than gf's and wives :P
my fav so far was my Rover SD1 3.5 litre V8 Vitesse, rusty, leaky, went around corners like it was at a stormy see, nothing really worked in it, but it was great.
Closely followed by a 3.0 v6 capri..... need i say more.
my new 2008, Megane II 1.6 VVT dynamique is a real breath of fresh air. Smooth, quiet, relatively economical, comfortable and above all stylish. Yes its bland inside, nothing a roll of Carbon fibre vinyl cant sort out for some contrast. Yes the radio is shite, but i have changed mine. Yes my drivers side window balls'd up 30 miles from home after picking it up, but the garagae will repair FOC and will silicone seal the connectors and check the other regulators.
Skodas are the same, boring middle of the road cars, Fords, Peugeot and Citroen probably have the same issues.
I love my new car, and so does my missus and to be honest if shes happy so the hell am i :P
