Megane CC rear parking sensors fault

Postby boobfan2 » Sat Jun 07, 2008 4:06 pm

Hello everyone,

I recently bought an 53 plate 2.0 priv CC with lots of toys (inc sat nav, heated seats and headlight washers), I have noticed though the rear parking sensors dont seem to be working. I am pretty technical but there is a lack of technical info on CC's so I thought I would ask the forum.

The handbook doesnt list them under any of the fuses and I did notice the other day when I removed the NS rear light cluster to change a blown bulb there were some wires scotchlocked to the main wiring on the back of the cluster which I find odd !

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how they are connected up. Renault said they come on when the reversing lights come on, I checked and both reversing lights work so it must be something else.

Many thanks for your help.

Sorry dont know much about the actual connection but I thought it could be the wiring for the parking sensors.

Try removing the "carpet" in the boot. I think the wires should be visible then.

I have looked in the boot as suggested, and yes there are wires !

Tucked away behind the fabric on the left hand side of the boot there is a small black box with renault stamped all over it. There are 4 wires connected to each of the 4 sensors, a red & black that goes to the buzzer (which does work as I put a battery onto it wow its loud) and another connector which has a red & black wired (schotchlocked believe it or not) directly to the reversing light wires on the rear of the light cluster) and a blue wire which does go anywhere and is taped up.

The unit gets power when the reversing lights are on and a 12v feed turns on to the buzzer but nothing happens :(

I suspect the unit it faulty, I am waiting for a call from Renault on the price of a new unit !

An update !

Turns our they werent a factory option then, they were fitted by the dealer after the car was delivered.

The unti has power etc but doesnt work, conclusion faulty unit. renault want £142 plus vat for a new one ! OUCH. Think I will get a £20 one on ebay and fit it myself.

Thought I would let you know as there seems to to be no mention of fuses or anything for rear parking sensors in the documentation I have anyway.

Are you going to get them put in by a garage or will you try yourself?

Hi,

I will do it myself. I am very technically minded and have the practical ability.

Cheers
