Morning gents, and ladies if any!
Guys, im new to the forum and really like what is going on here.
Im in the process of buying a 2nd hand Megane Hatch (paid deposit, collect this saturday), i had a question and was hoping you could help out.
I went and saw the car in Bristol on saturday and it is very clean with very low miledge but i noticed one thing. All the windows seem to go down intermitantly. IE: you press the button to send the window down and it goes down about 5cm, then you have to push it again and again and again till you eventually full open. The dealership i am buying it from says it is a safety feature and it will be turned off before i collect the car on saturday. Is this true?
Thanks for your help...

Hy and welcome, first its not a safety feature as such probably find that the cars battery has been disconnected at some point and the windows need 'reprogramming',
this is a simple procedure, with electrics on (press start button without pressing brake or clutch) or with engine running and windows fully up, click the window switchs up as you would do normally to raise them for approx 10 seconds and then release do the front together and then the back they should now all function correctly,
if the dealer has not sorted it, give it a go before accepting the car as after that you are looking at regulator problems but fairly certain the 'reprogram' will sort it out see link below for someone that had same prob
hint to make use of the site easier on top bar you will see search click that type in key words (try transformers) it will pull up threads that may help answer your problem all the best

Hi Bumpy Macaroon,
Thanks for your reply bud.
Yeah, hte battery was completely flat, not sure about disconnected. The code was required for the Radio aswell so they are gettitng that from Megane.
Ill give it a shot when I go through on Saturday if it isnt sorted - that's awsome, thanks!
Cheers,
Adam

Re: Hi Bumpy Macaroon,
Not good. The car may need a new battery or, worse, there can be a fault causing draining the battery. Such faults were discussed a number of times here.

Re: Second Hand Megane - Electric Windows
Slightly worrying that the dealer is telling you it's a safety feature when clearly not, if you are going to get the car i'd suggest mentioning the flat battery and get a note that you've mentioned it. That way if you have battery probs in near future(touch wood you won't) it'll be easier to get dealer to do something about it.
Good luck and let us know if you get it.
