Where in the dashboard is this noise coming from?

I had a rattle from inside the dashboard but it turned out to be something in the glovebox. I only found this out when I asked the passenger where they thought the noise was from. I get occasional clicks from the top centre part of the dashboard where the clock/tuner/CD screen is.

the noise (like a rattle) its just from the top centre part of the dashboard where the clock/tuner/CD screen is, as you describe.

I think this is a common fault, I'm sure I've seen a fix somewhere on this forum involving removing the top centre piece and either trimming off parts of the locating tabs or greasing them so that they don't click when they move. Mine doesn't rattle enough to warrant taking any remedial action at this time.

This thread tells you how to remove the top section:

I expect it'll just be a case of greasing the bits that rub together.

Try padding out all the contact area's of top section where it meets the dashboard with thin strips of foam rubber.

Window draft excluder foam strip is very good for this. Failing that a squirt of silicone trim lubricant work just as well
