Sunroof Slides Grease?

Postby robznet » Sat Jan 19, 2008 11:39 am

Hi all

Does anyone know what the correct grease is for the sunroof slides? Had a quick search but didn't come up with much to do with grease.

I presume any silicone based grease would do the job, but I know someone on here will know better than me!

Regards

The demands on the grease are very low and silicone is about the cleanest you can get so I would suggest you are bang on.

I'm sure that I heard mention that it needs to be a certain grease so that it doesn't affect some of the plastics / runners but I can't remember what sort. You might be better hanging on until someone can give you a definite answer, no offence to cyclonebri1

Silicone grease is the one. Its the safest, most inert substance available. You could actually eat it, it won't eat you or plastic.

We use it as a food safe lubricant and for all instances were resistance to interaction with other materials is a consideration. I believe it is also used for "implants"  due to its safe nature.
