Accelerating on its own
Hi I have a Megane II 1.4 16v 2003 with fly by wire throttle the revs keep going up to about 2000+ while driving causing it to kind of drive itself, even with the clutch depressed it still does it and will sit and idle at high revs also if I blip the throttle it revs up then stutters a bit then revs back up to about 1400 and just sits there. The check engine light isnt on and I scanned it and it has no faults showing, any help with this would be great as I don't have a clue whats up with it. I also cleaned out the throttle body and it doesnt seem to be sticking at all.
Thanks
Jason
Thanks
Jason

Anyone got any ideas on this one
Thanks

Re: Accelerating on its own
If the battery is disconnected there is a reset procedure for the ECU to learn the idle and your driving habits.
I've posted it verbatim on here before. But, I think the idea is to start from cold, hold at a fast idle for 15 minutes until the radiator fans have kicked in, then try 15 minutes of mixed mode driving.

Does anyone think this could be a vacuum leak i've just found the connection for the vapour solenoid hose on top of the intake manifold to have a broken clip and its quite loose so ive refitted it with sealer just gotta wait for it to dry now and give it a try

No that didnt make any difference although if you remove this hose it causes the engine to rev to 5500 ish rpm and sit their till you reconnect it

Still have'nt figured this out ive plugged it into clip and the throttle is at 14% when it should be idling anyone know if this is correct and also is it possible to reprogram the throttle parameters

Re: Accelerating on its own
but your problem isnt idling, right? you should push the engine until the spot it has problems and then check the %
