I am not one to rough it and have had a diesel pre heater i picked up for £50 waiting to be fitted to a car i intended to keep a couple of years...

I use one on the motorhome run off a sepperate tank of red diesel and cant think of a better modification for a megane cc to clear all frost and ice and make it easy to live with in winter conditions...
( i might have to remove the battery to the rear to find space to fit it )

Is it really worth it, my 2.0T takes a couple of minutes max to warm up, why go to all that bother?

Ah ha, well that may be worth bothering then. There is another solution, well 2
1- build a garage
2-move to Spain
Lol
Only messing, will you need to inform your insurance company though? Where will you run the diesel from ?

Re: Diesel engine cab pre heater..
well, here is the diesel heater...
https://screencast.com/t/sUDHNLND
Today I ran it for the first time in a year and it fired up ok and heated 15 litres of water to 75 degrees c in under five minutes using a 1/8 of a mug of diesel and i had forgotten how much they sound like a jet engine
without the silencer i use on the motorhome and wont be bothering with on the car
It looks as if there is space to fit it under the battery simply by removing the nearside arch liner to gain access and saves the job of moving the battery to the rear as i previously envisaged. I have test proven the heater
blower on the car by supplying it with a live with the ignition off ...
A small 4l red diesel tank will fit in the boot below the shelf feeding the diesel heater via a fuel pump and a 4mm fuel line run under the car.
( i did hit a snag - with the doors locked and alarm on the alarm senses the current draw and activates )
I am only short of a £5 remote control and the rubber water hose needed to couple into the cars heating system
I will fit it in 4 stages as and when (pump mounting, fuel tank and supply, electrical, and water circuit)
Looking forward to a pre heated, defrosted car in winter with no cold starts !
