Service Interval

Postby Andyo33 » Sun Jul 27, 2008 9:31 pm

The computer on the car says there are still 7000 miles to go until the service is due, the car is a 1.9dci megane and I have done 10k since the last service.

The mpg is dropping off and I feel the car is sluggish.

Is it worth servicing the car early or just doing the basics such as oil and filter?

This is my first experience with a diesel and just need a little advice.

Change the oil and filter half way through the interval. Drain water from the fuel filter -- it has a bleed screw at the bottom.

Use only synthetic oils, see Links for the Renault standard RN0710. It seems to be equivalent to MB 229.5 having 0w-40 or 5w-40 viscosity, so look for these symbols on the can. I guess, MB 229.3 of the same viscosity is also OK, but it is not for extended drain intervals.
