Hello
I'm new to this site and just posting for a very good friend of mine. She purchased her 54 plate 1.6 Megane Dynamique September last year and has had loads of problems this year with it.
Mainly with the car cutting out. That appears to be sorted now but on Monday she had warning lights and overheating warning displayed. Coolant level all OK and has not happened since.
Any ideas?? Details below....
Thanks
Terry
sept 07 - purchased car
23 oct 07 - car breaks down in traffic, AA called, one ignition coil changed.
12 Nov 07 - car breaks down again, three ignition coils are changed at home.
22 feb 08 - car breaks down twice (once in traffic), AA called twice, who witnessed problems,
move coils around, put car under 'stress' and complete a diagnostic. Recommended plug change
and had to follow car home again in case it broke down again.
23 feb 08 - plugs changed at home
29 feb 08 - car breaks down again
1-2 mar 08 - N/STR capteur clique sensor changed at home.
2 mar 08 - car breaks down again
7 mar 08 - car breaks down again, goes to renault garage (for 2 days). has diagnostic done and three
ignition coils replaces.
14 mar 08 - car breaks down again, goes back to renault garage (for 6 days). has numerous checks and
diagnostics, has asensor (upc) changed.
20 mar 08 -car breaks down again, AA called, who replace one coil and follow the car back to the renault garage.
where it stays till the 12 april, breaking down repeatly in that time and is tested for nuemrous problems. the UHC?-the main
computor of the car is changed alongside another set of plugs.
21 April - car breaks down again onthe A3, AA called. the car says overheating and red stop light comes on, pull onto
hard shoulder, the car however seems ok except for warning lights. moved off dual carriage way, (not safe). the car has plenty
of coolants etc, and the engine temperature is taken repeatly and is fine. AA suggest a temperature sensor.
Couple of problems...

Re: Couple of problems...
It seems to me that sometimes the spark plugs or coils are installed without application of the special fluoride dielectric grease. Then the coils fail...
If any sensors/electronics are suspected -- check the hatch covers under each front wheel arch. Do it ASAP, as water damages everything electric. The next is to check/clean the connector of the temperature sensor. See the manual (Links) for details.
BTW, I guess you know that is possible to use the heater set to full blast as an emergency radiator...
