Hi all - I recently got hold of a Meg 2 cc 1.9dci 130, which is the latest in a series of French cars (mainly Citroens) which I've owned over the years:
1972 Renault 4L
1977 Citroen GSA
1979 Renault 5 Gordini
1987 Citroen BX GTI
1989 Citroen BX GTI 16v phase 1
1992 Citroen BX GTI 16v phase 2
1995 Citroen Xantia 1.9 TD
1998 Peugeot 1.9 D Turbo
2002 Citroen Picasso TD
2006 Citroen Picasso HDI
2009 Citroen Grand Picasso HDI 110
As I'm now retired, and we intend to spend more time in southern France and Spain, and I no longer have a motorbike (my wife is unable to ride pillion), I started looking at convertibles. I checked out Mercs (SLK and CLS), Saab, Peugeot 307, and finally decided on the Megane. The one I bought is a 56 plate, and everything (including the electics) works as it should, has leather trim and all the toys you could possibly need. It was cheap because it's done 120k, but came with a fantastic service history (mostly Renault dealer up until 90k) and it drives very nicely with no undue noises or rattles. It did do something odd the other day, which I've posted elsewhere, but I'm now looking forwards to the spring and some long trips abroad.
