Megane II gone

We had Megane II 1.9 dci 120ps since October 2004, my wife drove it every day. There was nothing wrong with it, just looked a bit dated and there was a big service approaching. I used the latter as an excuse to get a new car - my wife wanted a red one. The replacement is a TT S-Line, FWD, 2.0TFSI 200ps, red, 255/35R19 tyres, the wheels are the same as TTRS, not very fast and surprisingly practical!

It's one of these, the same specs, different plate.


I'm not leaving though, because of this one (mine has "Cup" written on the B-pillar). It's faster than the TT, despite very modest 235/35R19 tyres (the fronts are upgraded to 245/35R19, all ContiSport 5P) and an old style multipoint injection -- the LSD and extra 50ps make the difference.

As cheaper alternatives we viewed Z4 2.5 Sport and MX5, but the former was found to have an overly long bonnet and be somewhat unpleasant (I don't understand how), while the latter appeared too small and soap case like...
Minis, of course, were not a proper mini like, overpriced and overly common, while Boxters were too manly (?), the people at work may not understand, and only dark colours are cheap...
We were not looking at saloons, estates, SUVs and children carriers, because an easy to drive compact car was needed.
I just realised that there are not many cars around which one can buy for a woman and on a budget of 10-15k.
