I have just got a 2nd hand Megane convertible 1.9 dci. The car is supposed to have a rain and light sensor however when these are attempted to be activated I get a warning and the service light actives.
The sensor mechanism I read is found behind the rear mirror and when I removed the covers I can see the sensor unit. To the unit there appears to be three wires, one on each side of the mirror holder and a third one in the middle. The only one that is connected is the middle one and I am taking this as the temp wire. The other two wires, with connection boxes on them are not directly connected to anything and I think might be the reason why the automatic sensor system is not working for the lights/wipers.
Can anyone confirm if there should be any wires connecting the sensor unit to these clips?

Re: Light and rain sensor
About lights-you have to turn it on. Do you have any massage about this when you start your car? (automatic lights de-activated). DO you have a button "auto" on the side of lights switch?
About rains sensor-i have heard that it is drying (i have read somewhere that you can use hair gel
)
Post a pictures about cables-and i will check that.

Re: Light and rain sensor
The problem is when attempting to switch on lights to automatic it says there is a fault and the service light is activated. When the wipers are switched on there is fault registered and the service light is also activated. I had to de-activate the light aspect to remove fault and service lights, the wiper fault occurs each time the lights are put oN.
I looked at the insdides of the sensor area and out of the three different wires only one is connected and I believe this to be the temp one, the other two connectors are not connected to anything on the sensor unit. Is this correct?
