high tail brake light
hi all i have a 2005 dci 1.5 sport tourer,my problem is the high level rear brake light is no longer working, would anybody have posting.php?mode=post&f=2#any idea of what could be at fault iam not sure how to go about taking the brake light out to check for a loose wire thanks
Re: high tail brake light
Check the fuse. Check the ground. Apply silver paint to any bad areas. The trim is simple to remove. Oh, and check the wiring from the boot to the chassis.
These are the normal solutions. Good luck.

Re: high tail brake light
The Megane II/Clio II have problems with these all the time and in the case of the Megane II it's normally one of two things; either damaged wiring in the cabin to tailgate flexible rubber boot (normally rear tailgate operation failure occurs to here) or, my guess, it is the multiplug inside the rear tailgate that actually plugs to the light unit that is at fault (due to corrosion or a poor/dry contact). It may also be the lamp unit itself but a quick test with a multimeter once you've gotten the lamp unit out will confirm or deny this for you.

Mick - and I'm only making fun - '.co.uk' means in the UK. Proper English does not recognise 'gotten'. This ******* pseudo verb has no place amongst our islands!
I'm a pedant and; so I hate Americanisms. The bottom line is don't verb nouns... If in doubt use 'remove / disconnect' et.al.
Your technical suggest is, of course, sound!

Re: high tail brake light
Well, you have a Herculean task that might even make a doctoral thesis. I suggest the title of your magnum opus thus: ''An analysis of 3,100 forum posts on a popular car website regarding consistency, spelling, grammar and style contrasted and compared with the standard base modelling of '1963 Popular Car Magazine'.''
50,000 words would be brief. I eagerly await your first draft!

Re: high tail brake light
Dave, seeing as you brought it up, isn't 'verb' a noun?
So is it even possible 'to verb' a noun? Or have you, in fact, just done what you are preaching against?
Just a thought.
Isn't 'to suggest' a verb? It would appear that you've used it as a noun. May I suggest 'suggestion' instead?
Isn't the English language fun?

The bottom line is don't verb nouns

Re: high tail brake light
But... N E wayz, back on topic <<<< Go Dave, you'll love that

Re: high tail brake light
You are quite correct. 'To suggest' (avoiding splitting the infinitive) is correct. 'Suggestion' is the second person pluperfect verb formation in the indicative sense. and indeed the construction I intended to use.
I failed.
The score is therefore approximately 3,100 to 1 - keep up the good work
By the way, 'verbing nouns' is an oxymoron that I often use in jest; though your post humbles me as a 'for hire' sub-editor.
Anyyyywayyy [sic], can we move this thread into 'Everything else', as, so far as I can ascertain, it has nothing whatever to do with 'high brake light[s]).
Peace!
EDIT: Mick - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20579 - 'wehn'?!
