driver side window not going up DEALERS A JOKE

My mates cc has been ok , recently driver side window would not go up but when pressed for all windows it went up. Took it to reliable dealers ahum who said mechanism is faulty and gave her a silly price.

her argument was why does it go up when the other button for all windows is pressed but they were still adamant its still the mechanism.
I recently bought a leather interior and stripped what i could as car was going to be crushed dash switches etc.
I took the windows switch off her old car and put this one that i had got from salvage yard - lo behold it works...

she went back to dealers and told them but to her surprise they still are saying mechanism...

are they just trying to rip people off

Usually is the mechanism, but again if you look at the whole picture there are also switches involved, but I think possibly 9/10 times it is the mechanism usually got wet, so if a switch has fixed it well done 1 - 0 to us!

I agree majority of the time it is the mechanism, but i was just bemused because when she showed it them working they still said nope its the mechanism

Should be easy to tell, if you reconnect the old switch and it doesn't work then its almost certainly the switch.
If the old switch works then its probably water in the mechanism's electrics causing intermittent problems or possibly was due to a poor contact between the switch and the electrical connector.
