need help

Postby scrapper40 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:49 am

Hey, i have a renault megane 1.6 vvti expression

53 plate

I need a replacement handbrake and i phoned the local renault dealer and he quoted me £228
He has two cheaper versions but because of the trim of the car its saying the £228 one

All i need to know is are they standard for all ranges of handbrake or does it have to be the higher trim

i asked the dealer and he didnt know :S

No reason for it to be the higher trim, just means the Finnish of it will be different, painted rather than wrapped in leather for example, all the mechanics of the thing are the same..

What's the price difference?

Why not go to your local scrapyard, or search eBay for a replacement?

Well a scrapyard then. I can't see them asking £120 for a handbreak lever.

You wouldnt expect so but scrappys have started charging the earth, cheapest I could find an airbag at a scrappy was £100 the new airbag from Renault was £72!! Even after telling them that they wouldnt budge on price as they said they'd be able to gt the £100 for it, I think it's like pol just assume scrappys will be cheap so don't check elsewhere n that means scrappys can charge alot! But by all means shop around n see for yourself.
