Hi All, ive got a megane II 1.5 DCI (56) and im wondering if i should COMPLETELY avoid any front/rear discs that you can buy on-line.
My front and rear discs are pitted, and generally worn, and even though they were fine for MOT, my renault dealer (who did MOT) said that they should be really changed all round (x4) in the next 6-9 months.
Im thinking that as ive changed discs on other cars before can i do these myself? Ive seen lots of drilled and grooved brand new discs on websites that you can buy, does anyone know if any are good/reputable/ok with future MOT etc??
Any help or pointers would be welcome.
cheers

Re: Brake discs
Buy genuine parts. A rear set costs around £90 including pads and discs. Fronts will be much cheaper (the rears include the bearing). The reason is that non OEM parts aren't necessarily balanced and often exclude the ABS ring, which unless you know what you are doing will cause you much head banging.
In all honesty, if the pads and discs are within factory limits, and you are happy with the braking performance, I'd leave well alone.

Re: Brake discs
Thanks for that. To be honest the brakes feel a bit lousy, even though it passed dealer MOT.
I was just thinking of a better quality disc that was genuine? or a really good aftermarket one?
I was told that discs with grooves helped get rid of water, and reduced the amount of glazing, or is this just BS..
Thanks
